Golfing:
Kleine Zalze hosted the World Amateur Championships (WATC) 'Eisenhower Trophy' and 'Espirito Santo Trophy' in October 2006.
The 300 hectare Winelands Golf Estate offers golfers and visitors the opportunity to enjoy on site wine tasting, picturesque accommodation, dining at Terroir Restaurant as well as relaxing on the terrace at the spectacular clubhouse where you can enjoy superb breakfasts and lunches.
The De Zalze Golf Course situated within the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate was designed by Peter Matkovich who has made the most of the stunning setting and created a course that places a premium on accuracy. The course has an excellent mix of parkland holes with its main defences coming from the water features on several of the holes as well as the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals.

Serious wine requires serious food, and with that said, you have to experience: 'Terroir', Food from the Earth. This relaxed and intimate Winelands restaurant comprises of a 60 seater restaurant with additional seating outside under the oaks. Together with a private venue suitable for weddings, conferences and launches, Terroir offers you a menu that relies on the perfection of the ingredients to create what Terroir's two chefs, call 'deceptively simple' food.
The Provencal-inspired chalkboard menu is dictated to by the seasonal, fresh and organic produce from the region. 'The emphasis is on quality ingredients. It's the ideal food with which to contemplate the wine in your glass.'
For starters, try the prawn risotto or fresh asparagus on wood-fired ciabatta with truffle, poached egg and Parmesan shavings. Main courses include rack of lamb with tomato, rosemary and garlic with a tian of polenta, courgette and aubergine, or try the wood-roasted pork belly flavoured with honey, garlic and chilli and served with an apple mash.
Terroir, something special every week Menu items will change regularly, according to seasonal availability of ingredients. The wine list is loyal to the great whites and reds of Stellenbosch region, and naturally includes the award-winning wines of Kleine Zalze.
Customers are served with various options. If you want to celebrate your birthday or other significant events with Kleine Zalze Estate, you are very welcome to do so. Parties with up to 20 participants can be easily arranged in the Terroir Restaurant. Weddings, conference, events, functions and birthdays can be catered for.
The Wine Cellar:
The unique Cellar Venue can accommodate weddings and functions for up to 120 people in a stunning Cape Winelands setting, with spectacular views. The chefs from 'Terroir' have compiled an array of delectable starters, main courses and desserts to assist you in compiling your own specific menu for your wedding. They are able to cater for breakfast, lunch or dinner functions and offer set-menus, buffet, semi-buffets and cocktail style functions depending on your preferences. Plan your table and floor layout to accommodate, 6, 8 and 10 seater tables.
Wedding ceremonies can be held in the gardens, provided that your marriage officer is willing to conduct the ceremony in a garden. Please note that this would be weather permitting, for back up, a marquee can be supplied at an additional cost.
Wine Tasting Venue:
An intimate meeting venue, catering for up to 20 delegates, boardroom style, set in an old wine cellar alongside the tasting Venue. This venue can also be booked for private dining up to 16 guests, where the Chefs from 'Terroir' will create a gourmet event to be remembered!
Kleine Zalze Lodges Suites:
Situated alongside the first fairway of the De Zalze golf course, catering for up to 10 delegates in boardroom style. The Lounges of the Kleine Zalze lodges offer the perfect setting, for brainstorming or strategic planning sessions.
