Directions to Bushmans Kloof
From Cape Town, South Africa
Leave Cape Town along the N1. Take the N7 off-ramp towards Malmesbury before you reach Century City / Ratanga Junction. Drive past Malmesbury towards Morreesburg, Piketberg and Citrusdal and enter the scenic Olifants River Valley.
Drive past the Clanwilliam dam situated on the right hand side of the road. Turn right onto the R364 towards Lamberts Bay / Clanwilliam. At the T0junction, turn right towards Clanwilliam. When you enter Clanwilliam, a petrol station will be located on the left hand side of the road.
Please fill up with petrol here if you need to. Also reduce your tyre pressure (please ensure that you re-inflate your tyres on your way back). There is no mobile reception after this point, so phone Bushmans Kloof in order for them to anticipate your arrival.
Continue driving straight on the R364 towards Wupperthal and Calvinia. Cross Louis Leipoldt's grave and drive over the tarred Pakhuis Pass. Cross a low bridge over the Brandewyns River and continue past a sign on the left hand side indicating Travellers Rest.
Drive for about 1km (0.62 miles), turn right at the Bushmans Kloof gate. Continue driving straight onto a concrete road and cross a small bridge below the dam wall. Drive towards Bushmans Kloof Lodge. On arrival, park next to the big Blue Gum trees next to reception.
By Air
Alternatively, conference delegates can fly to Bushmans Kloof on fixed wing planes or helicopter. The flight from Cape Town takes approximately 45 minutes while the transfer to the lodge takes 20 minutes.
